Yesterday the final meeting of the Supervisory Committee for organising
the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Board of Governors' Meeting
in Riga in 2000 took place.
The meeting’s participants were provided the information summarised
by SIA Birojs 2000 about the donations and tickets sold to the charity concerts
which were held at Riga Dom and Latvian National Opera during the EBRD Meeting.
A total of 6322.09 lats were raised for the charity purpose –
the computer room for training blind children at Strazdumuiza Boarding School – Training
Centre for Visually Impaired and Blind Children – from the donations and tickets
sold to the concert at the Latvian National Opera. But the 2467.01 lats, raised from the
donations and tickets sold to the concert at the Riga Dom, will be used for children
who have suffered from violence. The meeting’s participants decided that the above
amount will be divided into three equal parts and transferred to Rîga Samaritans
Association’s Rehabilitation Centre for Children Who Have Suffered from Violence, Family
Care Centre “Bulduri”and the Talsi Crisis Centre for Women and Children.
When reviewing the issue on the transfer of the fixed assets acquired
by SIA Birojs 2000 for the needs of the EBRD Board of Governors' Meeting to other
institutions, it was decided to prepare this issue for review at the Cabinet of Ministers.
The meeting’s participants took note of and approved in principle the
report prepared by SIA Birojs 2000 about the Annual Meeting of the EBRD Board of
Governors in Riga in May 2000. They assigned SIA Birojs 2000 the task of preparing
the final financial report and submit it to the minister R.Zile by 10 July for submission
to the Cabinet of Ministers. The meeting’s participants decided to propose to the
Ministry of Finance the reviewing of the issue of transferring the balance of the state
budget fund, which had been envisaged for the organisation of the Annual Meeting of the
EBRD Board of Governors, for the organisation of the Month of European Culture in Riga.
Finally R.Zile mentioned that the procedure of organising the EBRD
Meeting, namely, by establishing the Supervisory Committee comprising the officials at the
level of the State Secretaries, and by selecting an individual company via the tender for
the performance of organisational activities, has fully justified itself. Owing to the
participation of all the involved Ministries in the Supervisory Committee in the person of
the State Secretaries, the prerequisite for successful procedure of the Meeting - the
continuity of the preparatory activities of the EBRD Meeting, was ensured. The Minister
expressed gratitude to all the persons present for their contribution to the organisation
of the EBRD Meeting and wished SIA Birojs 2000 the success in implementing new
projects.
