Today the presentation of the catalogue Latvia
was held at the Art Museum Arsenals. The guests of the presentation were addressed
by Roberts Zile, Minister for Special Assignment for Cooperation with International
Financial Agencies and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for the Organisation of the
EBRD Board of Governors' Meeting, Andris Berzins, Chairman of Riga City Council, Maris
Elerts, Director General, Latvian Development Agency, and Selga Laizâne, Director, SIA Birojs
2000 (hereinafter – Birojs).
The catalogue introduces Latvia and its capital Riga to
the readers, as well as gives an insight into Riga's preparations for the Board of
Governors' Meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The
informative section of the catalogue is accompanied by interviews with Latvian politicians
and entrepreneurs.
Selga Laizane noted that only thanks to the co –
operation of the Latvian governmental institutions providing accurate information about
the country, support of the entrepreneurs operating in Latvia, and the accurate
co-ordination effort by SIA Birojs 2000, the Coordination Centre of the EBRD Board
of Governors' Meeting in Riga it was possible to issue the catalogue.
Thanks to the support of the company Air Baltic
and co – operation of the Embassy of Latvia in London, four thousand copies of the
catalogue have already been sent to London to be distributed at the EBRD Board of
Governors' Meeting. Public joint stock company Gutta supported presentation of the
catalogue by providing soft drinks and juice. Selga Laizane expressed hopes that co –
operation of Birojs 2000 with various companies will continue successfully. Thus an
opportunity to refurbish the venues of the Meeting, as well as restore cultural
heritage of Riga will be provided.
The layout of the catalogue was designed by McAbols. The
catalogue has been printed by the publishers Jana Seta. The edition of catalogue
amounts to 10000 copies. The catalogue will be circulated at the EBRD Board of Governors'
Meeting in London, this week. Besides it will be circulated at other events as well for
promoting the EBRD Board of Governors’ Meeting in Riga. Part of the edition will be
distributed to supporters and sponsors of the catalogue.
The EBRD Board of Governors' Meeting will be held in
Riga from 20 May to 22 May next year. However, Latvian Government delegation, as well as
SIA Birojs staff and experts will leave Riga tomorrow to attend the Annual Meeting
of the EBRD Board of Governors in London and to study the EBRD experience of organising
such comprehensive meetings, so as to ensure the necessary organisation of the Meeting in
Riga next year.
