Zenon Olbrys, President of the Baltic Transit Bank

We Have To Be Present

By Inese Kreicberga

The Baltic Business conference will take place at a time when Latvia will be in the focus of the world-wide attention. Thanks to the EBRD meeting, Latvia will have an excellent opportunity to demonstrate how up to date this country is in its way of thinking and developing projects. This is why we did not have the slightest doubt that we have to be present in this important event” – says Zenon Olbrys, President of the Baltic Transit Bank. He is one of the financial services session speakers at the Baltic Business Conference. One of the issues to be discussed in this session is the compatibility of the Baltic banking sector.

“It is important to discuss the development and opportunities of the Baltic region banks in this financial session. One of the most outstanding current problems in the banking sector is the future perspective, especially as concerns smaller banks – should they continue to increase equity or merge with large banks. We are also going to discuss continuously growing competition in the financial market,” points out Zenon Olbrys. He believes that the investment climate in Latvia is improving - slowly but definitely, which is a positive factor in the attraction of foreign capital. “From meetings with foreign investors, especially investors from the US and Germany, I have made an inference that they have interest in Latvia as a country with ample investment project potential.
