Rigas Fenikss does not expect a direct benefit from the meeting
The insurance group Rigas Fenikss comprises two insurance
companies: Rigas Fenikss that operates in the risk insurance area and Rigas Fenikss –
Life Insurance that, as its name suggests, offers life insurance services.
The business of Rigas Fenikss is marked by a constant growth,
increasing variety of insurance products and growing customers’ trust. The trust is won
when the insurer is prepared and able to fulfil his commitments under the agreement. We
are proud that it is Rigas Fenikss that has paid the largest indemnity in the history of
Latvia – the loss due to a fire accident at the wood processing facility of the
enterprise Rigas Tonis was estimated at 1.2 million lats.
Apart from the insurance work itself, Rigas Fenikss tries to promote
the insurance concept as such: each Sunday evening a program “Rigas Fenikss” Insurance
ABC is broadcast on the TV Channel LNT, which informs spectators about various insurance
products and explains their purposes.
In 2000 the main event of the year is the change of Alte Leipziger
Europa shareholders. Alte Leipziger Europa owns 100 % of Rigas Fenikss Insurance Group.
Starting from 1 January 2000 the controlling interest of Alte Leipziger Europa is owned by
Munich Re, which is one of the world’s largest re-insurance companies.
The EBRD Board of Governors’ Annual Meeting is a very important
event. The fact that it is held in Riga offers an opportunity for Latvia to represent
itself on the international level – we hope that all local organisers of the meeting
realise this unique opportunity and will use it accordingly. Influential persons from many
countries who, perhaps, would have never come to Latvia, will arrive here this year, and
it would be desirable to show these people more than just a standard programme of Riga –
Jurmala – Sigulda and give them an opportunity to see other Latvian towns, too.
Rigas Fenikss supports the Annual Meeting of the EBRD Board of
Governors because it is for the first time that Volkswagen cars will be used for the
transportation of the meeting participants, and we have very close ties with the company
Volkswagen centrs Riga. SIA Rigas Fenikss Ipasuma Parvalde (Real Estate Management
Company) holds 49% of SIA Miera Auto, which is the owner and manager of the real estate
unit at 54, Krasta Street accommodating Volkswagen centrs Riga.
We are really delighted to support the EBRD Board of Governors’
Annual Meeting, even though we do not expect any direct benefit for the insurance group
Rigas Fenikss. We wish all participants of the meeting nice weather, successful work and
positive impressions about Latvia.
