Not Let Down By Technical Provision

The Riga Congress Centre premises met up-to-date requirements

For events gathering such a large number of people as the EBRD Annual Meeting and the Business Forum the technical provision is of utmost importance. Juris Retenais, Birojs 2000 Project Manager, admits that this has been the first EBRD Meeting proceeding without any noticeable technical failures. This has also been an objective opinion of the EBRD officials.

Juris Retenais emphasised that in the course of preparation for the Meeting fruitful co-operation with the Lattelekom experts, who are experienced professionals, has been achieved. And judging by the number of emergency calls it turned out that they had been twice as less on any of the workdays of the meeting as they had been in previous EBRD meetings. Reaction time to emergency calls had been two times faster than in other meetings. Juris Retenais draws a conclusion that the quality of service is at its best when we fail to notice it. If it becomes noticeable, then something has gone wrong.

Working places at the Press Filing Centre were equipped with telephones and PC access to the Internet. TV sets at the Press Filing Centre enabled the journalists to follow the work at the plenary sessions of the EBRD Board of the Governors’ Meeting right from their working places. There was also an information board introducing the media representatives to the changes in the agenda of the meeting and opportunities for covering the ongoing events.
