Music Recording Company UPE Will Issue A CD
Music Producers UPE is awarded the tendered right to record and issue a digital
(CD) phonogram of Latvian composers' or related to Latvia composers' music and music
programmes performed by Latvian musicians (vocalists, instrumentalists etc.). The CDs are
envisaged for distribution to the participants and guests of the EBRD Board of Governors'
Meeting in Riga, next May. The CD should be ready by 20 March, 2000, but UPE has
designed to accomplish the work already this year. The planned circulation of CDs is 5000.
The Regular Meeting Of Hotel Directors Has Taken Place
On 29 June, Birojs 2000 organised a regular meeting with directors of Riga and
Jurmala hotels.
During the meeting Selga Laizane, Director of Birojs 2000,
familiarised the participants with the progress in respect of organisation of the EBRD
Board of Governors’ Meeting and requested them to review a possibility of increasing
the number of rooms booked for attendees of the meeting.
Janis Naglis, Director General of the Latvian Privatisation Agency, in
his turn, asked the hotel directors to think about their price policies, to make sure that
guests of the EBRD meeting would not leave with an impression that Latvia is an expensive
country for tourism. Irena Riekstina, Director of the travel agency Via Riga,
informed the participants of the meeting about the spectrum of the expected guests and
explained the reservation scheme for the hotel rooms.
EBRD Logistics Mission in Riga
From 14 June till 16 June, Riga was visited by London officials – Gilbert Sabathe,
Assistant Secretary General and the Head of the EBRD Annual Meetings Management Unit,
Vanessa Cotton, Director of the Event Organisation Company, and Sarah Fleming,
Executive Director of the Event Organisation Company. The representatives learned
about the progress of the project of the EBRD Board of Governors' Annual Meeting in Riga
and visited the venues envisaged for the meeting. They held a meeting with Selga Laizane,
Director of Birojs 2000, and the staff, as well as the management of the travel
agency Via Riga.
Visit In London
From 15 July till 17 July, Janis Naglis, Director General of the Latvian Privatisation
Agency, and Selga Laizane, Director of Birojs 2000 made a working visit to London.
During their visit they met with the EBRD officials. The discussions concerned the
solution for information technologies and telecommunications to be tendered, as well as
the programme of social events.
