It is going to be the only informative catalogue about the host
country in the information kits of the participants of the EBRD Board of Governors’
Meeting
A new informative catalogue Latvia is being designed
specially for the guests and participants of the EBRD Board of Governors' Meeting in Riga.
Last autumn the Supervisory Committee for the organisation of the EBRD Annual Meeting
decided to publish a catalogue about the Republic of Latvia in English in the format of
CD-ROM and printed version devoted to the 2000 Annual Meeting in Riga.
Last December SIA Birojs 2000 announced a tender for the right
to design the catalogue, and SIA Puse Plus was acknowledged to be the successful
bidder. Roberts Freidensons, Director of SIA Puse Plus, told us that work on the
new catalogue had successfully begun: "At present the conceptual design of the
catalogue is being worked out and the compilation of the text is nearing its final stage.
It has been planned to include the largest amount of information in the CD-ROM format, but
the printed version of the catalogue will provide information summary. Notably that
information contained in the catalogue will be supplemented by comprehensive visual
material designed providing a deeper insight into Latvia than the key economic and
financial indicators can give, so the next stage in preparation of the catalogue promises
to be even more interesting and dynamic."
It is intended that both versions of the catalogue should be identical
in design, moreover, it will be made as a set – upon opening the first page the
reader will find a CD enclosed.
The catalogue will contain abundant information about Latvia, it will
give an insight into the country's history, national economy, foreign policy, culture,
education, sports and other spheres of life. The circulation of the publication will reach
7000 for either version – the printed edition and CD-ROM format. Potential supporters
of the organisation of the Annual Meeting will be offered an opportunity to place their

The catalogue Latvia is intended as the only informative
publication on the host country to be placed in the information kits of all participants.
It will also be made available on news stands at all the venues of the Board of Governors'
Meeting. All Latvian embassies abroad and foreign embassies in Latvia as well as various
international organisations and the agencies in Latvia and abroad are going to receive the
catalogue well before the meeting. Thereby this large financial event will be given due
publicity and potential participants and guests of the meeting will have an idea about the
host country – Latvia.
