ADVISORY BOARD ESTABLISHED

On 29 November, the first working meeting organised by Birojs 2000 was held for the Advisory Board which was established to organise the Baltic Business Conference that is to take place prior to the EBRD Board of Governors’ Meeting. Ministries, several major governmental institutions, as well as the largest companies of Latvia have been represented on the Advisory Board. It was decided at the meeting to nominate Uldis Osis, Chairman of the Expert Council of the Ministry of Economy, as Chairperson of the Advisory Board.

BIROJS 2000 PRESENTS A PROJECT

On 6 November, the Birojs 2000 staff participated at a forum organised by the Latvian National Project Management Association and presented a project The Reconstruction and Restoration of the Art Museum “Arsenals” that was designed as a course project to complete a project design and management course given by Prof. Zanete Ilmete. The course was run by the Municipal and Project Management State Training Centre of the University of Latvia.

EBRD EXPERTS ARRIVE ON WORKING VISITS

On 27 October, Barbara Clay, EBRD Director of Communications, together with Leslie Zunz and Malcom McGregor, EBRD experts on the issues of TV provision, concluded their working visit to Riga. Our guests visited all the venues of the EBRD Board of Governors’ Meeting in Riga and got acquainted with the possibilities of providing TV transmission.

From 8 till 12 November a visit to Riga was paid by Gilbert Sabathe, EBRD Assistant Secretary General, and Vanessa Cotton, Director of Event Organisation Company, together with her colleagues Rita Fulgoni, Sarah Fleming and Janet Bell. The aim of the visit was to review progress on the implementation of obligations as per the Memorandum of Understanding.

LIEPAJA PARTICIPATES IN ORGANISING BALTIC BUSINESS CONFERENCE

On 4 November, S.Laizane, Director of Birojs 2000, and project managers V.Kasakovska and P.Puke visited Liepaja. On meeting with the representatives of the Liepaja City Council, the Liepaja Special Economic Zone and local industrial companies, the issue of their participation in the organisation of the Baltic Business Conference by presenting different investment projects to the participants of the conference was discussed.
