On 25 November the leading officials of the Riga City Council visited the Riga
Congress Centre, where Andis Solovjovs, SIA Skonto Buve Project Manager
(first on the left) advised them on the reconstruction process. Media representatives
also were present. The officials were satisfied with what they saw and heard.

UPDATING ON THE RECONSTRUCTION PROCESS

On 25 November Andris Berzins, Chairman of the Riga City Council, Andris Argalis, Deputy Chairman, and Andris Grinbergs, Executive Director of the Riga City Council, got acquainted with the process of the reconstruction at the Congress Centre and the construction of the underground parking lot at Kronvalda Park. During their visit to the Congress Centre Selga Laizane, Director of Birojs 2000, and Maris Tiknuss, Birojs 2000 Project Manager, accompanied them.

The tendered right to perform the reconstruction of the Congress Centre was granted to SIA Skonto Buve by the Riga City Council. In May 2000 this site is scheduled to host the plenary sessions of the EBRD Board of Governors’ Annual Meeting, as well as to accommodate the delegation offices and the Filing Centre.

On the same day the current meeting of EBRD Annual Meeting Organisation Supervisory Committee took place at the Riga Latvian Society House and started with a site-tour to get acquainted with the restoration and renovation carried out there. The restoration and renovation of the Riga Latvian Society House is performed by a/s Restaurators.

Participants of the Supervisory Committee meeting approved the changes in the concept of the prospective catalogue Latvia and took note of the information that Janis Domburs, Director of NIP Birojs, was appointed the Chief Editor of the catalogue. Also, the concept and contents were approved for the informative publication of the social programme. The participants of the meeting approved the sponsorship proposal placed by Nordic Investment Bank with regard to the working lunch of the ministerial summit of the Baltic Sea region countries.

A number of decisions were made in respect of the Baltic Business Conference, which is scheduled to take place on the occasion of the EBRD Annual Meeting. The participants of the meeting took note of and approved the form and procedure of the organisation of the conference as proposed by Birojs 2000. It was also decided that the Advisory Board of the Baltic Business Conference is entitled to take decisions pertinent to the organisation of the conference.
