Regular Meeting Of The Supervisory Committee Held
On 16 December a regular Meeting of the Supervisory Committee for
Organising the EBRD Board of Governors' Meeting in Riga in 2000 was held. The participants
of the meeting approved the texts of the printed publication version of the catalogue Latvia
and the visual design of the catalogue's CD-ROM version, as well as took note of the
information on ensuring fire security in hotels. They also took note of the information
regarding the repair of the access road to the International Airport Riga. Pauls
Puke, Project Manager of SIA Birojs 2000 notified the Committee about the course of
the organisation of the Baltic Business Conference. On being familiarised with the
applications for the sponsorship of the Meeting, the Supervisory Committee assigned SIA Birojs
2000 the task to conclude an agreement with Baltic Fund 1 L.P. about the
proposal to partially sponsor the exhibition of paintings Nepartrauktiba
(Continuity).
Jozsef Horvath Meets Roberts Zile
On 5 January the EBRD Board of Governors’ Meeting Adviser Jozsef
Horvath, residing in Riga since last October, met with Roberts Zile, Chairman of the
Supervisory Committee for Organisation of the EBRD Board of Governors’ Meeting in Riga
and Minister for Special Assignment for Co-operation with International Financial
Agencies. Jozsef Horvath reported that he had got acquainted with the course of the
preparation process for the Annual Meeting, visited the venues of the Meeting, as well as
met with subcontractors. He was confident that the most labour-consuming tasks had already
been completed and attention should be focused on the detail. Roberts Zile also admitted
that the most stressful period of the preparation process for the Meeting had set in.
Jozsef Horvath informed that starting this February the EBRD logistics missions would
visit Riga quite frequently. The EBRD Secretary General Antonio Maria Costa’s visit to
Riga has been scheduled between 1-2 February.
